Billy R. Hutchinson, Sr., 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morris Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Hutchinson was born March 2, 1942 in Ambrose to the late Henry and Katie Spikes Hutchinson. He graduated from Coffee County High School in 1960 before moving to Fitzgerald, where he lived for the past 47 years. Mr. Hutchinson started his career with the railroad, having worked for the Georgia and Florida railroads, ACL Railroad, SCL Railroad and retiring as conductor with CSX Railroad. He was a member of the United Transport Union. Mr. Hutchinson was a former printer and typesetter in Douglas and Waycross. He was a member of the Holiness faith and a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed his music ministry with the elderly and nursing homes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Jean M. Hutchinson of Fitzgerald; children: Telissa (Thomas) Morel, Billy R. Hutchinson, Jr., John Victor (Kimberly) Hutchinson and Valerie Denise Watson all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Cheltzi Morel, Joel Morel, Terry Wiggins, Kirk Hutchinson, John Riley Hutchinson, Brayden Hutchinson, Scott Wiggins, Kaylee Watson and Bailey Watson and a great grandson: Calvene Mason. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death 1 brother and 1 sister.
