John G. Steinbrecher, 76, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday April 11,2011 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha L. (Crosby) Steinbrecher who died on April 16, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Steinbrecher were wed on May 24, 1959.
Born in Boston, MA on August 12, 1934, he was a loving son of the late Joseph and Helen (Kelly) Steinbrecher.
John grew up and was educated in the Jamaica Plain and Charlestown sections of Boston. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 35 years and formerly resided in Hyde Park.
Prior to retiring in 1993, Mr. Steinbrecher had been employed for 25 years as a Quality Manager at the Fannell Studio in Boston.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, John was an avid New England sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing pool.
He is survived by his brothers Charles Steinbrecher of Haverhill and Joseph Steinbrecher of Saugus. The brother in law of Geraldine Crosby of Stamford, CT, John is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his dear friends, the Weineck family of Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday April 16th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday April 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
