
Quincey Dewitt Phillips, 62, of Lenox, Georgia, formerly of Tifton, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, April 14, at Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald with Elder Ed McIntyre officiating. Visitation will be held 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Phillips was born June 25, 1948 in Chatham County, Georgia to the late Quincy “Top” and Ruzell Wise Phillips. Growing up in Fitzgerald he was a carpenter and a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear. Mr. Phillips served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son: Craig (Wanda) Phillips of Sparks; daughter: Kayse (Rick) Layfield of Lenox; 5 grandchildren; Blake Layfield, Jaden Layfield, Bryce Phillips, Jimmy Gyr and Ryan Gyr; sisters: Glenda P. Hulett of Jacksonville, GA, Patsy P. (William) Hardeman of Fitzgerald, GA and Mokana Royal (Bobby) Clements of Irwin County as well as several nieces and nephews.
