William J. Bauer, 75

William J. Bauer, 75, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 11, 2011 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Constance E. “Connie” (Field) Bauer.
Born in Mansfield, MA on August 30, 1935, he was a loving son of the late Joseph and Annie (Abel) Bauer.
Bill grew up and was educated in Mansfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, and on May 21, 1958 was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Prior to retiring in 2000, Mr. Bauer had worked for 38 years as a Plater at the Foxboro Co. in Foxboro. When younger, he had been employed at the former Lowney’s Chocolate Co. in Mansfield.
Bill’s family was the focal point of his life and when his sons were growing up he was quite active in their activities with the Boy Scouts and the Mansfield Little League.
He was a car enthusiast all of his life and an avid Red Sox fan. Bill enjoyed partaking in projects around his home and loved reminiscing of the good old days growing up in Mansfield.
He was the devoted father of Glen J. Bauer and his companion and best friend Dorine Boyd of Mansfield and the late William K. Bauer. The brother of the late Elizabeth Cameron, Mr. Bauer is also survived by his dear daughter in law Liliana Bauer of Mansfield and his cherished grandchildren Glen Bauer, Jr., Angela Bauer, William Bauer and Raymond Bauer.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday April 14th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday evening at the conclusion of visiting hours at 8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
