LOWELL - Rita O. (Pestana) Gagan, age 92, died Monday, April 11, in Lowell at D'Youville Senior Care, after a long period of declining health. She was born October 10, 1918 and raised in Lowell, a daughter of the late, Manuel and Hilda (Alves) Pestana.
She attended Lowell High School for three years before moving to Tewksbury. She attended her senior year at Tewksbury High School from where she graduated with the class of 1936. She resided in West Roxbury for 18 years before returning to Lowell.
She is survived by a sister, Mabel Greenhalgh of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Henry Pestana, William Pestana, Dr. Adolph "Duffy" Pestana, Norbert "Nobbie" Pestana, Albert Pestana and Josephine Drouin.
