Willard "Joe" Bennett, 81, of Derry, NH, died Friday April 8, 2011 in the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. He was born in Somerville, MA on November 9, 1929, a son of the late Willard and Sadie (Doyle) Bennett. He had been a resident of Derry for the past several years, formerly living in Concord, MA and Framingham, MA. Mr. Bennett was a US Army Korean Conflict veteran. He had been employed as a pipefitter for Johnson Controls in Lynnfield, MA for over 40 years. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters, Denise Jordan and her husband Brian of Derry, and Anne Dennis of Derry; four sons, Keith Bennett and his wife Diane of League City, TX, Richard Bennett and his wife Pamela of Merrimack, NH, Ronald Bennett and his wife Jennifer of Tewksbury, MA, and Joseph Bennett and his wife Brenda of Derry; thirteen grandchildren, Matthew Jordan, Adam Jordan, Stephen Bennett, Kevin Bennett, Mark Bennett, Kym Casterline, Kyle Bennett, Caitlin Bennett, Olivia Bennett, Michael Bennett, Christopher Bennett, Courtney Dennis and Christopher Dennis; three great grandchildren, Chase Casterline, Logan Casterline, and Blake Jordan; one sister, Joan Merritt and her husband Travis of Topsfield, MA. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine A. (Sitar) Bennett in 2008, and two brothers, Robert Bennett of Pepperell, MA and Richard Bennett of Whittier, CA.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Wednesday, April 13th from 9 - 10am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service followed at 10:00am in the funeral home.
