Janie Roope Brummett, age 82, of 610 Elizabeth Street, Danville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, April 7, 2011 in Roanoke Carlion Hospital.
Born March 21, 1929 in Bluefield, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Harrison Roope and Sarah Caroline Hamm Roope. She lived most of her life in Danville and was married to the late Rev. Troy Daniel Brummet, who founded and pastored the New Testament Church on Elizabeth Street for many years. Together, they traveled to many parts of the country holding campground tent meetings.
Survivors include one son: Danny Ray Brummett of Danville; one daughter: Carolyn Jane Brummett Massey and her husband Bobby of Danville; one granddaughter: Bonnie Massey Crowder and her husband Carl; one great-granddaughter: Laura Ellen Fallen and her husband Neal.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Roy Horn and Rev. James Easter (of the Easter Brothers) will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 6 until 7:30 p.m., and at other times, they will be at the residence, 610 Elizabeth Street, Danville.
