Obituary

Amalia (Messere) “Nonna” D’Uva, 103, of Millbury and formerly of Franklin died April 6 in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Felix D’Uva who died in 1966.
Born in Sant Angelo Grotte, Italy, January 5, 1908, the daughter of the late Filippo and Teresa (Bertoni) Messere, Mrs. D’Uva came to America in 1947 and had lived in Franklin until moving to Millbury four years ago to live with her grandson.
A homemaker, Mrs. D’Uva loved to keep house, to cook and to eat Italian food.
She was mother of the late Jennie Perkins of Franklin. She is survived by her grandchildren, Donna DuBois of Kennebunk, Maine, Denise Mulligan and her husband Mark of Sutton, David Perkins of Millbury, Dennis Perkins and his wife Anne of Bellingham and the late Diane Beckwith.
She was the sister of the late Rocco and William Messere.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kayla, Mathew, Stephanie, Alexandra, Julianna, Zachary, Carlie, Cameron and Alyssa.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 9 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
