Worcester – Duane F. Smith, 54, of Worcester died on Tuesday, April 5th in Saint Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years Debra L. (Watts) Smith; three daughters Naja D. Smith of Worcester, Darcy L. Smith of Cadillac, MI and Chandra L. Watts of Worcester; a son Derek M. Watts of Worcester; his mother Eloise (Icestone) Smith of Ludington, MI; three brothers Darrell Brimmer, Douglas Smith and Daren Smith all of Ludington, MI; two sisters Dorothy K. Reid of Scottville, MI and Deborah Brimmer of Ludington, MI; three grandchildren Marcus Smith, Gage Watts and Joshua Romeo and many nephews and nieces.
Duane was born in Ludington, MI son of the late Henry W. Smith and is also predeceased by a brother Delbert Brimmer.
Mr. Smith worked for 26 years at the Flexographics Printing Plate Co. He was a licensed Hypnotherapist and volunteered countless hours of his time as a mental health care advocate for many people in the Worcester area. Duane also enjoyed learning about Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
A memorial service to celebrate Duane’s life will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 1 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Memorial contributions may be made to either the National Autism Association 1330 West Schatz Lane Nixa, MO 65714 or to the Parent Professional Advocacy League 51 Union Street Suite # 308 Worcester, MA 01608.
