Mrs. Luwill Morris McDaniel, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M., Friday, April 8, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald with Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. McDaniel was born January 13, 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George P. and Nora Mashburn Morris. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1943 and she attended Mercer University. Mrs. McDaniel was a homemaker and former assistant clerk for the Ben Hill County Superior Court, serving with Audrey Jordan. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Rebekah Sunday School Class, the Sanctuary Choir, Hem Of His Garment Ministry, Bereavement Committee and helped distribute prayer pillows to cancer patients.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Byron & Jane McDaniel of Fitzgerald and Ferris & Mary Lee McDaniel of Woodstock; grandsons: Bill (Kelley) McDaniel, Harrison McDaniel, Luke McDaniel and Jake McDaniel. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira M. “Mac” McDaniel, one brother and three sisters.
