Mr. Robert C. Cecchini, Jr., age 80 of Medford died Monday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Rita D. (Geraci) Cecchini. Born in Somerville, son of Helen (Wrin) Gattoni of Florida, formerly of Wilmington and the late Robert C. Cecchini he is a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1949. Mr. Cecchini was a Medford resident for over 50 years, and a Somerville resident prior to that. An eclectic gentleman who could be described as a “workaholic” he was anticipating going to work on the day he died. He worked for himself and was the founder and proprietor of Ace Motor Sales and Supply of Waltham, primarily an aftermarket automobile seat and interior upholstering business. On weekends he was a fixture at the Salem/ Methuen flea market and worked there selling his tremendous collection of tools. In earlier years he was a member of the National Guard.
He is survived by his mother, Helen (Wrin) Gattoni of FL, formerly of Wilmington, a daughter: Nancy Todisco and her husband Dennis, a son Robert Cecchini III and his wife Donna Marie all of Medford. Loving grandfather of Robert IV and his wife Kathleen, Michael, James Cecchini, Dennis, Kimberly, Nicholas and David Todisco; Great Granfather of Kara & Samantha Cecchini. Brother of Anne Coiley of AK. He will be sadly missed by Nancy’s dog “Gia”. A Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, Friday at 9:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s name may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
