Maurice A. “Sonny” Sheehan

TEWKSBURY - Maurice A. “Sonny” Sheehan, age 66, an active member of the area Catholiccommunity, died Monday evening, Jan. 19, at Tewksbury Hospital after a lengthy illness. He wasthe husband of Margaret J. (Madden)(Belladue) Sheehan, with whom he had celebrated a 35thanniversary this past Aug. 18th.
He was born in Boston, May. 18, 1937, a son of the late Denis and Bridget (Sullivan) Sheehan. He graduated B.C. High School in Boston, and later graduated Newbury College.
He served in the Korean War as a member of the United States Marine Corps, and maintainedmembership in the Marine Corps League in Wilmington.
He was retired from AT & T in Watertown after a thirty years of service.
Mr. Sheehan was active in church affairs of St. William’s Parish as a Eucharistic Minister, andformer C.C.D. teacher. He was especially proud to be an Oblate Lay Associate.
In his later years, he was active as a volunteer at Tewksbury Hospital, especially in the Catholicministry at the hospital.
He was a former member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks, the Lowell Sportsman’s Club, andthe Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by seven children, Thomas Belladue of Lowell, Joan Belladue of Somersworth,NH, Michael Sheehan of Lowell, Leanne and her husband Paul Winchester of Tyngsboro, MaryArmstrong and her husband Duane “Buster” Crandall of Tyngsboro, Timothy and his wife Louise(Nigrelli) Sheehan of Tewksbury, Sharon and her husband Parasko Giannakas of Lowell; adaughter-in-law, Deborah Forni-Belladue of Billerica; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and SteveKutny of Salem, NH; a brother, Denis Sheehan of Woburn; and 13 grandchildren.
He was also father of the late William Belladue and brother of the late John Sheehan.
His Funeral Mass was offered Friday, Jan. 23, in St. William’s Church. Interment with USMC Honors was held atTewksbury Cemetery.
