Simon M. Cabral, 94, of Fall River, MA, passed away Sunday evening. Simon was well known for his love of woodworking. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Simon was born in New Bedford, and later moved to Fall River after serving in the US Army Airborne Division in France during WWII. He was an employee of the Brockton VA Hospital for many years and a parishioner of Espirito Santo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Clara (Nunes) Cabral, his parents Joseph Mello Cabral and Mary Souza (Cristo) Cabral of New Bedford, and his brothers Gilbert Cabral, Virgino C. Mello, Edmond C. Mello, and Dorvelino (Davie) Cabral. He is survived by his sister Elsie M. Sylvia of New Bedford, daughter Susan Marie Hoover of Chicago, IL, granddaughter Dr. Danielle Marie Hoover of Ann Arbor, MI, numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St., Fall River FRIDAY at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours THURSDAY 4-8 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Veterans Service Organization or charity of your choice.
