Obituary

Mr. William James “Bill” Gammage, 78 of Hoboken, passed away Monday morning, April 4, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, April 6, at the Hoboken Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

He was born in Sebring, FL on October 29, 1932, he had lived in Hickory Bluff, GA and The Villages, FL for several years before moving to Hoboken in 2004. Mr. Gammage was a retired US Army Green Beret and Paratrooper having served one tour in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the army he went on to retire from Amtrak as a conductor. Mr. Gammage was also a Mason (Lodge 270) and a Shriner and was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church. He loved to fish, being on his boat, playing tennis and pickle ball. He will be remembered in Fitzgerald for his sky diving with friends, including Davis Sims. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him including his dog, Rowdy.

Mr. Gammage was a son of the late Joseph & Lois Curl Gammage. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeweltine Gammage; both of his brothers, Jim “Skeet” Gammage and Vinson Gammage and a son-in-law, Neil Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Dean Gammage of Hoboken; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Floyd of Fitzgerald, Patricia & Chris Reiging of Alpharetta and Tammy & Chad Hassenpflug of Vinton, Louisiana; a son, Wade Griffin & his companion, Stevie Waters, of Blackshear; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Gammage of Warner Robbins and Nancy Gammage of Eatonton; 6 grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Patrick Paramore, Samantha (Will) Reaves, Karisa Reiging, Joey Reihing and Taylor Hassenpflug; a great grandchild, Kolbee Paramore; a special relative, Delinda Doster of Pineview, GA, and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
