SANTAMARIA, Jacob A.
89, of Sagamore, formerly of Dedham and Clearwater, FL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on April 3. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ida (Mosca) Santamaria. Devoted father of Caroline Doten of Sagamore, Jacob Jr., and his wife Nancy of Dedham, Madelyn D’Addario and her husband Robert of Sagamore, and Camille Standley and her husband Dana of Franklin. Grandfather of Lisa Doten of South Boston, Michael and Lena Doten of Brookline, Gregory Santamaria of Quincy, Emily and Robert Santamaria of Dedham, and Jacob and Julianne Standley of Franklin. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Santamaria of Dorchester and many nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Boston English High School and a 1945 graduate of Boston College. He received his Masters degree in Romance Languages from Boston College. He was a professor at Boston College from 1946-1951. He was a distinguished educator in the Boston Public School System for 37 years having served as principal of the Dearborn School, the Randall Morris School and the Dante Allegheri School all in Boston. He also taught English and Spanish at the Dedham High School evening school for many years.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons, Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. Dedham, Thurs at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Dedham at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8 PM. Interment private.
