Mary A. ( Milliken ) McKenna, formerly of Chelsea and Everett and a resident of Stoughton for the past 50 years passed away on Saturday April 2, 2011 at the Oak Hill Golden Living Center in Middleboro. She was 83 years old and the beloved wife of the late John L. McKenna Jr. She is survived by her daughter Janice McKenna of Stoughton and her son John L. McKenna III and his wife Sally McKenna of Middleboro. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Carl McKenna, Sarah McKenna and Jack McKenna. She was also a sister to the late Doris DeMattia and Thomas Milliken.
Born on February 15, 1928 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, she was a cherished daughter of the late Elizabeth ( Sullivan ) and Harry B. Milliken. She later attended Everett Public Schools and was a graduate of Everett High School.
In her earlier adult years she resided in and around the Greater Boston area and was employed as a clerk by Farrington’s Store. She also enjoyed working as a Quality Control Administrator for many years for both the RCA Electronics Corporation and the ITEK Electronics Corporation who directly participated in the earlier Space Programs of our country. Mary also was an active volunteer at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after her retirement.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2011 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. from the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the The Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27, Stoughton at 10:30 A.M. The Pastor Rev. Joseph P. McDermott, officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
