New Bedford-Jose Sousa age 60 years died April 2, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lucy F. (Lopes) Sousa of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Timothy J. Sousa and his wife Jenae, and Jordan A. Sousa both of New Bedford. Jose was the brother Maria M. Oliveira Of New Bedford, Maria J. Macedo of New Bedford, Connie Sousa Lima of New Bedford, Louis de Sousa of Montreal, Canada, Frances Araujo of New Bedford and John Sousa of Dartmouth. He is also survived by 2 grandsons Cayden and Cameron and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sousa was the son of the late Maria S. DeFrias (Amaral) and Manuel de Sousa. He was born in São Miguel, Açores. Mr. Sousa was formerly employed in shipping and receiving at New Text Industries.
Mr. Sousa’ Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday form 5 to 7.
