MARLBOROUGH: James. F. “Jim” Collins, 70 of Marlborough died on March 30, 2011 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Quincy on November 16, 1940 the son of the late Timothy J. Collins and Catherine R. (Kelly) Collins.
Jim is survived by his sons Timothy M. Collins and his wife Susan M. Collins of Sudbury formerly of Wayland and Robert J. Collins and his wife Catherine Collins of Brookfield, NH. He was the grandfather of Drew and Gwen Collins both of Brookfield, NH.
Jim had been a resident of Marlborough for several years and resided in Quincy during his youth. He was a graduate of Archbishop Williams High School in Quincy and received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston. While attending Northeastern, he worked at Bakers Chocolate Factory in Dorchester. He was an accomplished mechanical engineer and his career brought him to New Orleans, Connecticut, Minnesota, New York and Ohio. In his earlier years, he loved hiking, boating and fishing. He was an avid reader and enjoyed being on his computer.
At the request of his family, his funeral services and interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gifts in Jim’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
