GORMAN James "Lou" of Weston age 82 passed away peacefully on April 1, 2011. Lou spent over 50 years in Major League Baseball and was the former Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Boston Red Sox. Most recently he served as the Executive Consultant and Hall of Fame Coordinator to the team. Born in Providence, R.I. Lou attended LaSalle Academy and was a graduate of Stonehill College Class of 1953. Lou attained his masters in teaching at Bridgewater Teachers College. He served over 34 years in the United States Navy both active and reserves and retired with the rank of Captain. Lou is the beloved husband of Mary Louise (Kelly) Gorman. Loving brother of Virginia L. Moran of Narragansett, R.I. and the late Frances Rider, Mary Desrochers and Leo Gorman Jr. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews Doreen and Tom Dougherty of West Roxbury, Kathleen and Michael Rocchio of East Greenwich, R.I., Karen and Robert LaRoche of Saunderstown, R.I., Gale Law and Michael Rider of Ohio, and David and Stephen Desrochers of FL. He is also survived by 8 great nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Wednesday, April 6th. from 3-8 pm.
