Nellie (Spinetti) Spirito, past president of the Medford Senior Citizens Club, died Saturday at the Woburn Nursing Center. She was 93.
Mrs. Spirito was born and raised in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Maria (Salipante) Spinetti. One of 10 children, Nellie left school at an early age to help care for her siblings upon the death of her father. A Medford resident for 73 years, Nellie was a very active member of local senior citizens clubs. She was a member of the Italian-American Senior Citizens Club and was past president of the Medford Senior Citezens Club.
Nellie was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas. She was a devoted mother to Josephine LaFrazia and her husband Pat, Vincent N. Spirito and his wife Rita, William A. Spirito and his wife Barbara all of Medford, John S. Spirito and his wife Theresa of Newton, George G. Spirito and his wife Sylvia of Atlanta, GA, and Salvatore S. Spirito and his wife Kay of Nashua, NH. She was a loving grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 22. She was a dear sister to Romeo Spinetti of Stoneham, Alice Spinetti of Winchester, and the late Edith, Salvatore, John, Falcon, Rudolph, William and Eddie Spinetti.
Friends may call Tuesday from 3 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Joseph Church, Medford, Wednesday at 9 AM with the Rev. Robert J. Fountain, celebrant.Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
