It is hard to sum up 97 years in a few paragraphs. Especially when those years were so filled with love, cherished moments and a family truly blessed.
Born in a small town upstate, New York, Margaret Patricia "Pat" Coy, grew up and worked hard to put herself through secretarial school. She then met and married the love of her life, Eugene Schmitt to live happily ever after.
In their 70 years together, they had three wonderful children who were her pride and joy: Douglas, Melita and Margene. As years went by, she was blessed with seven grandchildren: Michael, Todd, David, Craig, Steven, Kristin and Holly. She was also so fortunate to have been able to share in the lives of her fourteen great-grandchildren: Ryan, Justin, Ashley, Connor, Lucas, James, Nicholas, Alexis, Evan, Kamryn, Hudson, Elle, Quinn and Miles.
Treasured are the memories of her most favorite times: strolling through her amazing gardens, bon fires on the beach, and weekend trips to Ashoken Reservoir. Christmas time and her famous rice pudding she knew everyone could hardly wait for every year! How she loved to sing, especially at our family Christmas caroling parties. She loved her time at home and the days spent with Eugene taking a ride "out east" to pick fresh fruit or vegetables.
We all have our own special memories that will live on in our hearts. Her happy life was lived to the fullest, and as we celebrate the many years and memories she has given to all of us, we can think of her smile and how her laughter would fill the room.
