Mrs. Lula Mae Jarrell Smoot, age 87, Widow of the late Charlie Elmer Smoot, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy, NC. She was born in Surry County on June 9, 1923 to the late Walter and Maggie Lowe Jarrell. Mrs. Smoot was a homemaker, and a member of the Community Baptist Church in Mt. Airy NC. Mrs. Smoot is survived by one son, Mr. Edwin (Eddie) Peele of Mt. Airy; two Grandchildren; Tim (Lisa) Peele of Spartenburg SC., Melissa (Matt) Tabor of Taylorsville, NC. three Great-grandchildren; Miller Peele, JoshTabor and Heather Tabor; two sisters, Lucille Jarrell Davis of Mt. Airy, Louise J. Pullen of Winterpark Fla., Sister-in-law Hassie M. Jarrell of Lowgap and a special caregiver Linda Dean of Mt. Airy. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and two brothers, Wodrow Jarrell, Roger Jarrell and one sister: Estelle Jarrell. A private family graveside service will be held on Friday April 1, 2011 at Skyline Memorial Gardens at 2:00 P.M with the Rev. Randy Money officiating.
