Obituary

Stanley R. Larson, 91, formerly of Medway, died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his daughter’s home in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor W. (Magnuson) Larson for 69 years.

Born in Somerville on May 10, 1919, he was a son of the late Axel and Susanna (Horner) Larson. Mr. Larson was a resident of Shippensburg, PA since September, 2010 and had formerly resided in Medway since 1984.

Mr. Larson graduated from Arlington High School in 1937. He worked for Magnuson & Vincent (Textbook Illustrators) for 37 years during which time the corporate name was changed to Magnuson & Larson, Inc. and Stanley became president.

Mr. Larson later worked at Data General in Westborough for 5 years as a Senior Technical Illustrator until his retirement in 1984.

He served many years as S.S. superintendent and teacher in the Covenant Church in Cambridge and the Church of the Nazarene in Melrose and led Bible study classes at the Trinity Covenant Church in Lexington. He served as Deacon in the Covenant, Nazarene and Medway Village Churches and was a member of the choirs in the Covenant, Nazarene and Medway Community Churches.

Mr. Larson designed the expanded facility for the Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Building Committee.

In 1994 he was appointed by the State to a seat on the Medway Housing Authority as a Commissioner and served as Assistant Treasurer.

Besides his dear wife, he is survived by a son, David Larson of Clemmons, NC, two daughters, Carol Nordstrom of Sandown, NH and Susan Lakin of Shippensburg, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, April 5 at 10 a.m. in the Medway Community Church, 193 Main St. in West Medway.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in West Medway.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Larson’s memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
