Charles Morris Cross, Sr. Age 92, a native of Douglas, GA passed away on March 30, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Cross was born on April 18, 1918 to the late Edwin Reddick and Fannie Lott Cross. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Cross. Mr. Cross was a World War II veteran. He was a mail carrier for over 30 years, a Mason over 50 years, American Legion, former Coroner and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with interment following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: wife: Helen Phillips Cross, Douglas, GA; son: Charles M. (Nancy) Cross, Jr., Douglas, GA; daughters: Carol (Lyle) Gordon, Douglas, GA, Mary (David) Burke, Baxley, GA; stepdaughter: Bruce Barnes, Warner Robins, GA; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the First United Methodist Church.
