Victoria R. Connor, 92

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Victoria R. (Moro) Connor, 92, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 31, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late John M. Connor, Sr., to whom she was wed for 62 years at the time of his death on November 14, 2004.
Born in Medford, MA on November 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Nino and Sylvia (Bacchini) Moro.
Vicky grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield Public Schools and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She furthered her studies and was a graduate of Burdett College in Boston.
Mrs. Connor had worked at her families business, the former Mansfield Garage, now called Mansfield Jeep Chrysler. The business was started by her family in 1917 and is still owned by the Connor family today. She retired in 1978 after working for 15 years as a Bookkeeper and Secretary at the dealership.
When younger, she had worked in Boston in the insurance industry and during WWII, at the United States Army Base, also in Boston.
A resident of Mansfield for most of her life, Vicky was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. She was also a former member and treasurer of the Natural Resources Trust in Mansfield.
An avid tennis player, Mrs. Connor was a former charter member and champion player at the Bearcroft Swim and Tennis Club in Attleboro.
Family was the focal point of her life and she treasured the many summers spent in Dennis, Wianno and Falmouth on Cape Cod. Her other hobbies included walking and sailing with her children in Falmouth.
She is survived by her loving children John Connor, Jr. and his wife Ulla of Zionsville, Indiana, Lawrence Connor and his wife Victoria of Voluntown, Connecticut, William Connor and his wife Jeannie of Kennewick, Washington, Brian Connor and his wife Susan of Alexandria, Virginia, Stephen Connor and his wife Ann Marie of Bourne, Paul Connor and his wife Mary of Foxboro and Gloria O’Brien and her husband Michael of Norton. The dear sister of the late Gloria McDonough, Mrs. Connor is also survived by her cherished 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and 1 niece.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday April 4th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be held privately at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday April 3rd from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman and Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Victoria’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Sunshine Fund at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Norton, 184 Mansfield Ave, Norton, MA 02766.
