Mr. Norman H. Menard, of Taunton, died Wednesday, March 30 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro following a period of failing health. He was the husband of Emelia A. (Szteligo) Menard. He was born 80 years ago in Dighton, the son of the late Henry and Beatrice (Bellerose) Menard. He was educated in Taunton and was a 1948 graduate of the former Msgr. James Coyle High School. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Taunton for many years. He was previously employed at the former Hodgman Manufacturing in Taunton. Mr. Menard was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Rapoza-Knott Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Dighton, the Italian Naturalization Club in Taunton, where he served as Secretary, was a Past President of the Holy Name Society of the former St. Paul’s Church, and was a member of the Maximilian Kolbe Guild of Holy Rosary Church. He enjoyed bowling, Playing bocce, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Taunton.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 2 daughters: Nancy Menard of Wilder, Vt., and Maureen Allen and her husband, Kenneth of Norton; 2 sisters: Therese Gonsalves of Norton, and Muriel Boivin and her husband, Robert of Niantic, Ct.; 2 granddaughters: Stacey and Kelly Allen of Norton, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Raymond Menard of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, April 2 at 8:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
