Obituary

Mrs. Remonia Laris Gillie, age 75, widow of the late John Gillie, of Danbury, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She was born in Stokes County on October 13, 1935 to George and Gladys Hall Smith. Mrs. Gillie worked as a Textile Woker and was a member of Church of God in Lawsonville. Mrs. Gillie is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Howard and Cleo Gillie, Wayne and Faye Gillie, both of Danbury; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Phillip Smith, Connie and Cicero Smith, both of Danbury; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; mother, Gladys Smith; three brothers, Edward Smith, Donnie Smith, both of Danbury and William Smith of Eden; five sisters, Raymell Pyrtle of Florida, Doris Mabe of Walnut Cove, Melinda Key of Pinnacle, Mable Booth and Carolyn Brown, both of Westfield. She was preceded in death by her husband; father; baby son John Gillie Jr.; and one brother, Warren Smith of Pilot Mountain. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Cox-Needham Chapel of Danbury at 2:00 P.M with the Pastor Rickey Brewer and Bro. Larry Wilson officiating with interment to follow at Northview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Danbury. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
