DeCota, of Brockton, January 18, 2004, Constance E. (Pontes) DeCota, 76 years, wife of the late William F. DeCota. Mother of Katharine L. DeCota-Roberts, and the late Michael F. DeCota. Mother in law of Helga DeCota-Eckhardt.

Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 7:30pm. Burial at a later date in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Thursday 6-8pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Obituary Information

Mrs. DeCota died Sunday evening at the Life Care Center, West Bridgewater after a brief illness. She was born in Easton the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Conceicao) Pontes, she had been a resident of Brockton since 1964 when her husband retired from the US Army.

She was raised in Easton and attended Easton schools. She was employed as a garment stitcher for many years and was later employed as a nurses aide for the elderly.

She enjoyed working inside and outside her home. She followed sports on television, especially the Boston Red Sox and Olympic events. She was a member of the Olympic Fund, New WWII Memorial in Washington DC, the USO, and received many certificates from Massasoit Community College for American Sign Language

She is survived by her daughter Katharine L. Decota-Roberts, three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, a daughter in law Helga DeCota–Eckhardt of Germany and one sister Phyllis Sholtis of St. Louis Missouri. She was the wife of the late William F. DeCota, mother of the late Michael DeCota, sister of the late Marie P. Gonsalves, Matilda B. DeMoranville, Georgina Poe'Sepp, and Anthony J. Pontes who died in France during WWII.
