Lynn: Kathleen P. (Langin) Dempsey, age 91 of Lynn, died unexpectedly, Monday, March 28, 2011 at the North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edwin Dempsey.
Born in Scotland and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Catherine (Hughes) Langin. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Kathleen was at one time the receptionist for the late Dr. Raymond Ross of Lynn, and prior to her retirement, she was receptionist for GLSS. Next to her family, Kathleen’s second love was music and especially singing. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen E. Welch of Nahant, her granddaughter, Keelyn Welch of Nahant, her sister, Carol Langin of Lynn, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Andrew & Michael John Langin and her sister, Irene Lydon.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 178 Humphrey St., Swampscott. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Burial will be private.
