GLOUCESTER: Beatrice M. “Bea” (Day) Souza, 85, formerly of Sheedy Park, died Monday, March 28, 2011 in the Den-Mar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rockport. She was the wife of the late Manuel P. Souza, who died in January of 1996.
Born in Gloucester on April 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Franklin L. and Eleanor (Wheeler) Day. She was a lifelong resident and a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1943.
Mrs. Souza was a longtime employee of LePage’s prior to her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by two stepsons, Richard M. Souza of Gloucester and Terry W. Souza of Florida; three granddaughters, Candace Souza of Gloucester, Michele, wife of Jason Tarr of Amesbury, Janet Souza of Gloucester; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Martha Slater, Barbara and Richard Michael and Margery and Fred Wheeler.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday afternoon in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 - 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
