Obituary

Methuen, Ma. – Joanne Clarke, 59, and a longtime resident of Methuen died Monday at the Lawrence General Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Methuen she was the daughter of the late Robert A Clarke and is survived by her mother J. Corrine (Pelletier) Clarke.
For 29 years Joanne was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Social Working. She was a graduate of the Presentation of Mary and following graduation enrolled in U. Mass Lowell where she received her BA degree. She was also a graduate from the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton, Ma.
Prior to its closing she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Methuen.
Joanne enjoyed her summers in Etna, Maine and her family said she was a beloved sister, daughter and aunt.
Besides her mother she is survived by her brother Carl R. and his wife Sheila M. Clarke of Salem, NH., 3 nephews Christopher, and Jeffrey Clarke, and Thomas Dowd, very close friends Robert and Jeanne Johnson and Gail Torla, cousins Michael and Donna Hughes.
Joanne was predeceased by her sister Maureen Quinney.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Theresa Church 22 Plymouth Street in Methuen.
Friends will be warmly received on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Carroll Center for the Blind 770 Centre Street Newton, MA 02458.
