Marilyn L. (Keefe) McDonald 87, of Pocasset, and a former longtime Franklin resident, died peacefully Saturday March 26, 2011 at the Bourne Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late William L. “Jim” McDonald Jr. who died January 23, 2011.
Born in Franklin, January 7, 1924 a daughter of the late Arthur A. and Mary (Sullivan) Keefe, she was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a 1941 graduate of Franklin High School. She also attended Boston University. She retired after many years of service as assistant librarian at Dean College in Franklin.
She was a former longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church, and enjoyed spending time and celebrating holidays and events with family, Cape Cod and the beaches, was an avid reader, trivia expert, and longtime follower and fan of the Boston Red Sox and area sports teams.
She is survived by 3 sons; Stephen J. McDonald and his wife Robin of Franklin, Timothy W. McDonald of Franklin, Daniel T. McDonald of Wareham, 3 daughters; Patricia A. Ciavattone of Walpole, Susan K. Morrison and her husband David of Hebron, Connecticut, and Amy J. Campbell and her husband William of Mashpee, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Arthur C. Keefe, Lilyan Feeley, and Elinor McGuire, and was the grandmother of the late Christian McDonald.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday April 1st, at 9:15am from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. FRANKLIN, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq., at 10AM.
Following cremation, a private burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
