Obituary

Born May 17, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA

Died March 22, 2011, Bel Air, MD

Betty was one of eight siblings and grew up on the family farm in Ivyland, PA.

Betty worked during the war at Social Security, Baltimore, MD, where her supervisor, George Robinson, was to become her future husband. George asked Betty to write to him while he was in the Army, and she replied “only if you write to me first.”

George and Betty were married on August 3, 1946, and welcomed their first born, Janice Lee on May 7, 1947, and later Anna Jean on February 20, 1951.

Betty loved her family, and took care of her mother during her long battle with MS, and later her eldest sister Anna, and for over 10 years was the caregiver of her beloved husband, George who passed away on October 27, 2006. Her most precious and cherished grandchildren, Derek, Andrew and Patricia were the lights of her life and she was so proud of each of them.

After the death of her husband, Betty moved to the home of her daughter, Janice Easter, in Fallston, Maryland. There she met many wonderful new friends through the church and was active in the UMW and the Prayer Shawl Ministry, making well over 100 prayer shawls for those in need of comfort and prayer.

Betty never met a stranger who did not later become a friend. With her beautiful smile and her love of people, she won the hearts of everyone she met. Her gardens at each home she lived in were lovingly cared for and tended, and she would not hesitate to share with anyone who admired her garden either the beautiful blooms or plants. Many a home is now graced with plants that Betty shared over the years.

Betty loved her church and never missed an opportunity to share her love of the Lord with those she met. Her smile and warmth will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.

Memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 9 at 2 PM at the Fallston United Methodist Church, 1509 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD. 21047. Memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to Fallston United Methodist Church Prayer Shawl Ministry, 1509 Fallston Road, Fallston, MD 21047 or to CrossWorld, 10000 N Oak Trafficway, Kansas City MO 64155, c/o Patty and David Stout.
