Katherine "Kate" Lincoln-Messina, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at her home in Charlestown following an extended illness. She was 66 years old.
Kate was born in Boston on June 17, 1944 to the late James W. and Alice A. (Condon) Lincoln. She grew up in Charlestown and attended Boston Public Schools. Kate was a homemaker. Kate was a resident of the Thelma Lacey House in Charlestown and appreciated the care that all staff members extended to her throughout her illness. She was an active participant and founder of the Main Street meeting for Alcohol Annonymous in Charlestown. Kate was a devoted friend of "Bill W." and would always greet most people with "Just Be Willing".
Kate is the devoted mother of Jason A. Messina and his wife April of Lowell. She is the loving sister of Walter Lincoln of Connecticut, Eleanor Barbuto of Winchester, Mary Lincoln of Winchester, Rose Lincoln-Mullane of Charlestown and the late Alice Doherty and Patricia Bohn. She is the beloved aunt of Bernie Doherty of Arlington, the late Donna Doherty and Joseph Fortunati and is survived by many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog Sarge.
Relatives and friends "Just Be Willing" to attend Kate's Funeral on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
