LAUGHLIN, NV: Arthur Joseph Robinson, 68, formerly of Gloucester, died February 17, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Arthur was born July 2, 1942, the son of Eleanor (Robinson) Sherman and the late Arthur Adelard Robinson. Arthur lived most of his life in Gloucester, and attended St. Ann's where he excelled as a basketball player. His scoring records stood for many years and were a great source of pride for him.
After high school, he served his country as a member of the Navy in the submariner service on the USS Entemedor for 7 years. In his professional life, he was a computer systems engineer, having worked for many years for Sperry-Univac and Litton Industries.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Laughlin, Nevada. He was beloved father of daughter, Laurie and her husband, Kevin of Rockport, son, Michael and his wife, Noelle of South Carolina, son, Mark of Rockport, daughter, Michelle and her husband, David of Winchester and son, Phillip of California. He leaves grandchildren, Adam O’Connor and his wife, Bryn, Kelly O’Connor; Joshua, Heather and Jessica Robinson; Nicholas, Amanda and Victoria Palumbo and Miah and Rachel Robinson. He also leaves great- grandchildren, Finn O’Connor, Jacob and Ava Robinson and Scarlett Robinson.
Visiting hours for Arthur will be held Sunday afternoon, April 3rd from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
