Mrs. Nannie Leola Tilley Poindexter, age 73, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Rockingham County on December 25, 1937 to the late Roy and Ester Matthews Tilley. Mrs. Poindexter is survived by five step-daughters, Eula Mae Greer, of Hickory, Helen (Donald) Cranfill, of Mocksville, Virginia (Chris) Carson, of Mt. Airy, Patricia France, of Mt. Airy, and Faye Poindexter, of Mt. Airy; one step-son, Wade (Angela) Poindexter, of KY; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ralph Tilley, of High Point, Billy (Mary Jo) Tilley, of Pinnacle, Jerry W. Tilley, of Mt. Jackson, Hugh Tilley, of Salisbury, Walter Tilley, of Walnut Cove; and special friends, Penny Music and Roger France, of Mt. Airy. Mrs. Poindexter was preceded in death by her husband, Eulis W. Poindexter, and her parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Cox-Needham Chapel with Bro. Don Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
