Charlton
Alphonse C. 'Russ' Chestna, 90, of 376 Worcester Rd., passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.
His wife of 63 years, Ethel B. (Collins) Chestna died in 2002.
He leaves four sons; James Chestna of Douglas, Richard Chestna of North Carolina, Michael and Russell Chestna both of Worcester three daughters; Sandra Asselta of Rochdale, Kathleen Helliwell of Orange County,CA., Linda Schmuland of TX., 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by a daughter, Carol Chestna who died in 1949.
Russ was born in Worcester, son of Adam and Nellie (Stankus) Chestna and lived in Worcester most of his life.
Russ was the founder and owner of General Painting and Roofing Co., which he started in 1937 and retired in 1987, before passing the business to his family.
He enjoyed fishing.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at the Robert J. Miller-Charlton Funeral Home, 175 Old Worcester Rd.
The Funeral will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 10 H-Putnam Rd., in Charlton, burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery
in North Brookfield.
