Thomas Robert Carmo, 68, of New Bedford died March 28, 2011 at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Patricia A. (Mortagua) Carmo.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Alice (Lopes) Carmo, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed as a truck driver for several local trucking companies for many years until his illness.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Carmo of New Bedford; a daughter, Tina Canavan of Marion; 3 brothers, William doCarmo, Charles Carmo and George Carmo, all of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Dolores Spencer of Fairhaven, Ethel Fox of Boston and Catherine Cabral of Deland, FL; 3 grandchildren, Aidan Canavan, Liam Canavan and Justin Carmo; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John Carmo, Michael Carmo and Louis Carmo.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 1st at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, March 31st from 4-8 PM.
