Obituary

Anna Jane Carlson died March 26, 2011 at the Mystic Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Mystic Ct. She was born Anna Jane Gillam on January 17, 1912 in Chittenden, Vermont, the daughter of Albert Fredrick Gillam and Rosella Eliva McGee.
Anna married Gustaf Niles Carlson on June 2, 1939. The couple lived in the West Rutland - Clarenden Springs area of VT. Anna ran a small dairy farm while Gus worked as a machinist. In 1965 the couple moved to Charlestown, NH for the next 20 years, where Anna worked as a housekeeper.
She remained in Charlestown after her husband’s death until 1985 when she moved to Ledyard, CT, to live with her daughter. Anna became active in the Ledyard Senior Center by raising plants to help support the senior van fund, of which she was very proud. Anna was a member of Ledyard’s seniors and the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Gales Ferry, Ct.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gustaf Carlson (1973), son Howard G. Carlson of Arizona (2006), brothers Howard (1944) & Albert Gillam (1964) of VT, & Sister Phelinda Verbarg (1992) of NJ. Anna is survived by her daughter Judy Cregeur of Ledyard; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Her family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm at St Luke’s Lutheran Church, Rte. 12 Gales Ferry, CT. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 at the church. Burial will be in Charlestown, NH at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Ledyard Senior Center Van fund - or the Ledyard Visiting Nurse Association Patient Donation Account.
