Obituary

Virgil Roark, age 72, died March 26, 2011 at his residence after being in declining health for the past two months.

Born June 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Ernest McDaniel Roark and Eliza Elizabeth Fogler. Mr. Roark spent his entire life in Danville, Virginia. He was a proud member of the US Marine Corps. for 4 years. He owned and operated a floor refurbishing business from which he retired in 1990. He was married to Margie Marie Adams. Mr. Roark was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Marie Adams Roark; one step daughter: Debra Kreger and husband Jimmie; step grandson: Michael Beckner, Sr. and wife Peggy; one step great-grandson: Michael Beckner, Jr., all of Danville; two brothers: Thomas U. Roark of Florida and Norman E. Roark of Vermont; and one sister: Martha Lee Roark Plessinger of Florida. In addition to his parents, Mr. Roark was also predeceased by a brother: Ernest Roark, and three sisters: Mary Ferguson, Bertha Soucy, and Pauline Amos.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. James Albert will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. also at Swicegood Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence, 300 Martin Road, Lot 8, Danville.
