Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Vincie S. (Gagliano) Militello, 88, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Michele Militello who died on August 22, 1993.
Born in Worcester on April 22, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Eleanora Gagliano. She has resided in Gloucester most of her life. Vincie was employed as an office clerk at the former Mighty-Mac Manufacturing in Gloucester for several years. She had also once worked at Capt. Joe & Sons of Gloucester.
A longtime communicant of Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, she was a member of the Madonna del Rosario Society and the Sons of Italy. For her devotion to St. Joseph, she held a shrine in her home and each year welcomed hundreds of people for the St. Joseph Feast. A loving mother and grandmother, she affectionately referred to her grandchildren as her “Kings and Queens.”
She is survived by her children, Antonino J. and his wife, Sharon (Anderson) Militello, Francesco M. and his wife, Lucille (Orlando) Militello and Crocifissa “Christine” and her husband, Joseph Curcuru all of Gloucester, Matteo, and his wife, Marilyn (Newman) Militello of Rockport and Eleanor R. and her husband, David Tucker of Gloucester; twelve grandchildren, Michael and Christian Militello, Frank and his wife, Sybil Militello, Michael and his wife, Veronica Militello, Julie and her husband, Timothy White, James and his wife, Kimberly Curcuru, Michael Curcuru, Joseph Curcuru, Jr., Keith Militello, Stephen Militello, Nicole Tucker and David Tucker, Jr.; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Coppersmith of Milwaukee, WI and Rosalie Ciaramitaro of Gloucester; two brothers, Anthony Gagliano of Peru, IN and Santo Gagliano of West Bend, WI; four sisters-in-law, Catherine and her husband, John Cusamano, Antoinette Militello, AnnGrace Militello and Rosalie Militello all of Gloucester; a cousin, Filippina Gabriele of Gloucester and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Gagliano, a sister, Sally Piscitello, twin grandsons and many in-laws.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
