FALL RIVER…. Leo S. Couture, 76, of Fall River passed away March 25, 2011 at St. Anne’s Hospital following a brief illness.
He was the husband of Pauline (Martel) Couture.
Born in Fall River he was a son of the late Lionel and the late Alida (Gibeau) Couture and was a lifelong resident of this city.
Mr. Couture was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church where he was a 3rd Degree Knight with Msgr. Prevost Council #12380. He enjoyed fishing along with watching and feeding birds and making bird houses.
He was the owner of various businesses throughout Fall River. He served in the National Guard in the 1950’s.
Along with his wife, survivors include 5 sons: Gary Couture of Westport, Carl Couture of Westport, Michael Couture of Bristol, RI, Steven Couture of Fall River, and Christopher Couture of Fall River, 2 daughters: Elaine Silva of Berkley, and Diane Ramunno of Fall River, 1 brother: Roland Couture of Fall River, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Couture, Doris Brodeur and Pauline Kingston.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, march 29, 2011 at 10AM from the SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St., Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be Monday, 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Couture’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
