TEWKSBURY - Edwin L. "Eddie" Samuelson, age 83, a member of B.P.O. Elks for five decades, died peacefully Friday evening, March 25, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous four month battle with declining health.
He was born in Medford, June 24, 1927, a son of the late Edwin and Florence (Wentworth) Samuelson, and raised in Medford. He later moved to Somerville where he eventually retired from the Ames Safety Envelope Company in 1992.
He was the devoted life companion of Helen (Indorato) Driza of Tewksbury;
He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Nancy Samuelson Barnes and her husband William Barnes of Belchertown, MA; was the cherished grandfather and "Grampy" of Bill, Timothy, and Jennifer Barnes; was like a father to Diane Driza of Tewksbury and Lisa Gibbs of Rochester, NH; like a grandfather to Erica Ferguson and Michael Gibbs. He was the brother of Arleen Unger and her husband Kay of Brewster, WA; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Capt. Stanley H. Samuelson, U.S.A.F., a pilot, killed in action over the Pacific during WWII, and his sister, Barbara Samuelson Chaloux. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots .
