Obituary

NATICK/WAYLAND: Philip L. “Phil” Pattison, Sr., 84, died peacefully at the VA Medical Center in Bedford on Thursday, March 24, 2011 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Boston on September 9, 1926 the son of the late Samuel J. Pattison and Ann M. (Broughton) Pattison.
Phil is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Rose M. (McQueeney) Pattison of Natick formerly of Wayland. He was the beloved father of Philip L. Pattison, Jr. and his wife Belinda of Salem, Roseann M. Pattison of Natick and the late Connie M. Pattison who died in June of 2004. He was the cherished grandfather of Autumn and Paige Pattison both of Salem. He is also survived by his sister Ann V. Loiselle of PA and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Samuel and George Pattison and Joan Schlaich.
Phil had been a resident of Wayland for over 40 years before moving to Natick a few years ago. He spent his formative years in Newton and graduated from Newton High School and received his BS in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University with the Class of 1953. He had a long and distinguished career as a Civil Engineer with many municipal governments for numerous communities. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Seaman First Class with the U. S. Navy. He served the Town of Wayland on the Board of Road Commissioners from 1992 through 1996; the Board of Health from 1997 through 2007 and on the Septage Committee from 1997 through 2007. He also served on several study committees for the Town of Wayland.
Phil was a member of the National Assoc. of Professional Engineers, Massachusetts Professional Land Surveyors Assoc., Massachusetts Water Works Assoc. and the Public Works Assoc. He was also a member of the Ipswich Rotary Club for many years. He was an avid baseball fan and in his earlier years was a professional baseball player with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was a Boston Brave Alumni member and always enjoyed opening day at Fenway Park with his family. Phil also served as a Massachusetts hockey referee and goal judge for over 40 years. He will be greatly missed and loved by his family.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Parish of the Good Shepherd (St. Zepherin Church) Route 27, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Pattison family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
