Obituary

Mr. James “Kenny” Hill, age 64, husband of Doris Bowen Hill, of Pinnacle, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Salisbury Veteran Affairs Hospital. He was born in Forsyth County on October 12, 1946 to the late William Robert Jr. and Lucy Frances Harris Hill. Mr. Hill worked at Ligon Electric for 40 years; he served in the United States Army; was awarded a Purple Heart; served in the Vietnam War; Bronze Star and was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Hill is survived by his loving wife, Doris Hill; one son, Matt Hill of Clemmons; two step-sons, Jerry Parker of Boone and Glenn (Gretchen) Parker of Pinnacle; two grandchildren, Michael Parker and Declan Parker; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Eugene Hill of North Wilkesboro and Richard (Yvonne) Hill of Winston-Salem. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Bill Hill. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M with full Military Honors given by the King American Legion Post 290 with the Rev. Nathan Snider officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 6-9 PM at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chestnut Grove Children and Youth Building Fund, 1024 Volunteer Road, King, NC 27021. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the ICU staff of VA Hospital in Salisbury and to Dr. Latta Baptist Hospital Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain (www.coxneedham.com, www.facebook.com/coxneedham is respectfully serving the Hill family.
