Iris P. Grant, 72, of Manchester, NH, died Thursday March 24, 2011 in her home, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Dixfield, ME on October 25, 1938, a daughter of the late Hector and Edna (Jordan) Girardin, Sr., and had been a resident of Manchester for the past 24 years, formerly living in Derry, NH and Wilton, ME. Iris was employed in the hardware field, specializing in plumbing for 33 years. She had been employed by Benson's Lumber and Hardware in Derry, Sundeens Lumber in Manchester, and Steenbeck & Sons in Salem, NH. Iris loved her dogs and enjoyed doing crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Earle C. Grant of Manchester; two sons, David Crockett, Jr. of Wilton, ME, and Chris Crockett of New Sharon, ME; two daughters, Susan DeRuiter of Wiscasset, ME, Ethel Crockett of Waldeboro, ME; two step daughters, Carolyn Thompson, and Brenda Thompson both of Friendship, ME; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Barr of Farmington, ME. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her numerous extended family and friends.
Calling hours were held on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 5 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Services were also be held at the Wiles Funeral Home, 42 Weld St., Dixfield, ME. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, March 30th from 4 - 6pm with a service that followed at 6pm in the Wiles Funeral Home. The burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Dixfield in the Spring.
