LOWELL: David C. "Dave" Marren, age 70, a resident of Lowell for over 40 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Sharon L. (Aberle) Marren.
Born in Somerville on September 13, 1940, he was the son of Alice W. (Copeley) Marren, who survives him, of Melrose and the late Charles P. Marren.
Dave was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 1958.
He resided in Somerville and Billerica until moving to Lowell.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a salesman by the Heider Construction Company of Tewksbury.
Dave was an avid sports enthusiast, and loved watching the Red Sox, Bruins and college basketball.
In addition, he loved watching horse races with his son Joe and sharing time with his friends at the U.S. Bunting & Athletic Assocciation.
Known as "Uncle D", he was very special to all his nieces and nephews and loved spending time and traveling with them all.
"Dave lived life to the fullest, his charismatic personality, quick wit, and story-telling always filled the room with laughter." He will be forever missed by all.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, David C. Marren, Jr. of Revere and Joseph A. Martini, Jr. of Lowell; one brother, George "Paul" Marren and his wife Beverly of Burlington; one sister, Marsha E. (Marren) Chicoine and her husband Joseph of Melrose; also many loving nieces and nephews.
Dave was the father of Cheryl A. Marren, who passed away on March 6, 2005.
Calling hours Sunday, March 27, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, March 28, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., # 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
