Obituary

Charles W. Wordell, 72, of Mattapoisett died Friday January 16, 2004 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a long illness. He was the husband of Marcia A. (Wood) Wordell.

Born in Acushnet, the son of the late John and Mary (Pabis) Wordell, he was raised in Fairhaven and had lived in Mattapoisett for the past 46 years.

Mr. Wordell was the proprietor of Mac's Soda Bar on Sconticut Neck in Fairhaven for 30 years. He later worked for the Massachusetts State Lottery Beano Division for 10 years until his retirement.

He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School. He was a former member of the Reservation Golf Club, where he achieved a hole-in-one. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Midway

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debra L. Molloy and Cheryl A. Wordell, both of Mattapoisett, and Kristine S. Wordell-Quintal and her husband Mark, of Van Nuys, California; a son, Charles W. Wordell, Jr. of Kennebunkport, Maine; two sisters, Lorraine Macomber and Judith Wordell, both of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Kara Wordell, Hilary Wordell, Sarah Molloy and Erin Molloy; and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late John Wordell.

His Funeral Service will be private. Burial will be in Cushing Cemetery, Mattapoisett. Visiting hours are omitted.
