Mary U. Morea, 80, of Derry, NH died Wednesday March 23, 2011 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center of Derry, after a period of declining health. She was born October 24, 1930 in Detroit, MI, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline (Jones) Watson. Mary was raised in Michigan, later living with her first husband Clayton Alder in Tennessee. She later moved to Topsfield, MA where she met her second husband Manuel Morea. Following, she moved to New Bedford, MA and the Cape Cod area where she lived for many years. She had been a resident of Derry since 2004. Mary was a secretary for many years with Clark & Reid Van Lines in MA, and had previously worked for Prophet Van Lines in Tennessee. She enjoyed writing poetry, and loved gardening.
Members of the family include two daughters, Faith Ann Alder of Harlem, GA, and Diana Rauti and her husband Jouni of Derry, nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters, Joann Carleton of South Farm, MI and Juanita Hawley of North Adams, MA, as well as six nephews. Ms. Morea was predeceased by a daughter Anita Jo Martin in 1994.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, services will be held by the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01710. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry is assisting with arrangements.
