Mr. Robert A. Cote, of Tewksbury formerly of Wilmington passed away March 23rd, at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 63 years of age. Born in Medford on September 29, 1947 he was one of seven children of the late Catherine M. (Saunders) and Roland L. Cote.
Robert was a Tewksbury resident for the past six years and formerly lived in Wilmington where he was raised and educated. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was awarded several medals and commendations in recognition of his honorable service to his country. Prior to his retirement, Robert worked for many years as service writer in the automotive industry.
Robert enjoyed sports and in his younger years he enjoyed playing competitive roller hockey at the Ballaroo Roller Rink in Medford. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and following all of the Boston's major sporting teams. His greatest joy was being active with his two sons, Robert and Brian, and following their accomplishments with their own youth sports and many activities.
Robert is survived by his beloved sons, Robert Adler of Framingham and Brian Cote of Billerica. He is further survived by his devoted brothers and sisters, Dennis Cote of Pelham, NH, Brian Cote of Haverhill, Jeff Cote of Tyngsboro, Pam Mackenzie of So. Lawrence, Sandy Martineau of Tewksbury and Kim Santangelo of Wilmington. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Robert will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Saturday, March 26th, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will held on Friday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to Local Heroes Inc., P.O. Box 536, Wilmington, MA 01887-0536.
